Three projects, one flood information systemOptimal information supply. That is what the HIS, NOAH and VIKING projects are all about. HIS is an automated information system of Rijkswaterstaat. Given an imminent or existing flood situation, HIS offers current information about the places where the water retaining structures are under threat. HIS also provides insight in the consequences and the safety of the population if the structure fails. NOAH works with water managers from several European countries to improve information supply during floods and to achieve greater citizen participation. This is done through the development of FLIWAS (Flood Information and Warning System). NOAH is co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg IIIb programme. The responsible (lead) partner of the NOAH project is STOWA (Foundation for Applied Water Research) in Utrecht. VIKING is a cooperation between the province of Gelderland and the German federal state Nordrhein-Westfalen. The VIKING objective is to improve cross-border calamity management. Among other things, VIKING uses HIS for flood calculations and develops an evacuation module that supplies information on the current situation during a flood. One flood information system: FLIWAS
